When does an electric bike become a motorcycle?
An electric bike becomes a Motorcycle when it no longer meets the legal requirements of an electric bike, such as maximum motor power and speed limits. In most countries, electric bikes are classified as bicycles if their motor power is below a certain threshold (usually 750 watts) and their maximum speed is limited to 20-28 mph (depending on the region). If an eBike exceeds these limits, it may be considered a Motorcycle and subject to different laws and regulations, such as registration, licensing, and insurance requirements. It's important for riders to familiarize themselves with the laws in their area to ensure they are operating their electric bike within legal limits.
