Lectric e-bikes are incredibly popular for a reason. They are affordable, high-quality, customizable, and, crucially, reliable. Whether commuting through a city center or riding to a bus stop, train station, or other public transport where you need to fold your bike, Lectric has increasingly dominated the urban e-bike market.
However, if your screen suddenly flashes an error code, fear not, as most of these issues are a simple fix. We’ll also tell you which ones aren't simple and require mechanical intervention.
Quick Reset & Wire Checks

Before we get into the weeds of each error and how to resolve it, always start with a quick power cycle. Try to get off your bike for this, as some torque and cadence sensors calibrate when you turn the bike on. Your weight can throw that calibration off and trigger an error code. To power cycle your Lectric e-bike, turn it off completely, wait 10 to 30 seconds, then turn it back on. If your model has a removable battery, unlatch it, inspect the terminals, and insert the battery back into its slot.
Often, if that doesn’t fix it, check the following wires for loose or damaged connections. They are in high-stress or high-movement zones and can be easily dislodged. The most vulnerable cables are:
Around the handlebars, headtube & brakes
The folding hinges of the frame (if your bike has one)
Near the rear hub motor
The back of the display
With that established, here is your ultimate guide to Lectric error codes.
E003 - This is a pedal-assist sensor issue, often caused by a loose connection or a damaged cable. You can resolve it by powering it off, resetting the PAS connector at the folding point or near the pedals, and removing any obstructions from the cable connections.
E004 - This is a throttle fault, often occurring in Lectric’s class-3 offerings. Check the throttle cable, as it is likely obstructed, disconnected, or has debris interfering with the connection.
E006 - This error indicates a low battery voltage. It often simply means that your battery is dying or dead. Fully charge your bike, remove and reset the battery, and clean contact points. If the issue persists after charging for the recommended duration, take it in for servicing.
E007 - This is a motor issue. It often means the main cable connecting your controller to the motor is disconnected, loose, or obstructed by debris. Power cycle the bike, reset all connections around the motor, and inspect the cable for damage.
E008 - This is a speed sensor issue or a throttle signal issue. It often means the speed sensor magnet is obstructed or the throttle is not returning to its normal position freely. It could also mean that the connector or terminal is impeded by debris. Fixing that should resolve the issue.
E009 - This error is a controller fault. It usually means that the internal controller has failed or there is a major wiring harness fault. Power cycle the bike, reseat the battery, and disconnect and reset the accessible harness connectors.
E010 - This is a display communication issue. It usually means that the display is not receiving signals. It could be a loose display cable, which you can fix by powering it off and resetting the display connector.
HOT - This is a system temperature protection. It often means the internal electronics are overheating due to long climbs, long rides with high assist, hot weather, or heavy loads. You can resolve it by taking a break and stopping the bike. Alternatively, you can lower the assist mode.
For any other error codes, or codes that keep recurring after you try to fix them, take it to the service center. Do not attempt to take apart or disassemble your Lectric e-bike; not only will this void any warranty you may have, but it can also lead to dire consequences on the road if you fail to assemble it properly.
